Cold Water, Hot Revival

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life- Romans: 6:4

There’s something unexplainably holy and refreshing about standing in the water and proclaiming that the old you is dead and gone, and the new you is alive in Christ. Recently, I got baptized, not in a church tub, but in God’s creation. In the middle of nowhere. I wanted mine to be in a river like Jesus, I am all about the outdoors so Jesus pointed out a perfect spot. The water wasn’t just water… it was a symbol of surrender surrounded by the very elements He spoke into existence. The misty air was heavy in the presence of the Holy Spirit. The buildup before getting dunked was nothing like I have ever experienced. The excitement, emotion, and stillness were an insane combo. As I went under the cold mountain water, there was a moment of pure bliss as my soul felt purified. As I came back up I was burning with passion and love for Jesus more so than ever before.

But here’s the truth: It’s not about where you’re baptized. It’s about why you’re baptized and who you’re declaring your life now belongs to. Whether it’s in a river, a pool, or a baptistry, what matters is that you’re saying: “I’m done living for myself. I belong to Jesus.” If you’ve been waiting for the “right” setting or the “perfect” moment STOP.
Jesus didn’t wait to be crucified in a beautiful cathedral. He carried His cross through dirt, blood, and mockery and still declared victory. So if you feel that tug on your heart to take that next step, let this be your sign: Be bold. Go public. Don’t wait.

Prayer: Boldness to Be Baptized

Father,
Thank You for the gift of baptism, the outward sign of an inward surrender. Give me the boldness to go public with my faith. Help me not get caught in perfectionism or hesitation, but move in obedience and trust. Whether it’s in a church, a tub, or a river let the moment be sacred. Let it be powerful. Let it be real. And for those already baptized, remind us daily of the death we’ve died and the life we now live through You. In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Been baptized? Tell your story. Post it. Share it. Let someone else find courage in your journey.

Not baptized yet? Don’t let fear hold you back. This is your next step of obedience, not your final step of perfection.

Remember: The water doesn’t save you — Jesus does. The water simply marks the beginning of your public walk.

The Jordan River didn’t save Jesus, but it marked His ministry. Your baptism may not look like someone else’s but when it’s done in faith, it echoes through eternity. Don’t be afraid to stand in the water and say,

“I’m His now. All in. No turning back.”
