Balancing Time and Responsibilities
“To whom much is given, of him shall be much required.”
— Luke 12:48 (KJV)
There are seasons in life where the prayer is, “God, give me more.”
More opportunity. More relationships. More growth. More responsibility. And then there are seasons where that prayer is answered. I am currently in this season, partly why I haven’t been on top of these devotionals.
My calendar seems to always be full. My work has increased. My relationships have deepened. My opportunities have greatly expanded. And suddenly, what once felt like a blessing can begin to feel like a burden.
But God never blesses you so that you drift from Him. He blesses you so that you learn how to walk with Him through more. It is easy to stay close to God when life is quiet and not much is going on. It takes intention to stay close when life is full of business and distractions.
You are juggling work, your relationships, your goals, your responsibilities. But the danger is not being busy. The danger is becoming so busy that God becomes one more thing to manage instead of the One who leads it all.
Recenter the Order
God is not meant to fit into your schedule. He is meant to be the center of it.
Your work is a gift, but it is not your source.
Your relationships are a blessing, but they are not your foundation.
Your productivity is valuable, but it is not your identity.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
— Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
When God is first, everything else finds its place.
When God is not first, everything else feels heavier than it should.
Balance is not about equal time. It is about priority. Some days require more work. Some days require more presence with people. But every day requires God at the center. Even Jesus, in the middle of ministry, stepped away to pray.
If He made time for the Father in a full life, so must we.
Prayer
Father,
You have blessed my life with more than I once prayed for.
And sometimes it feels like a lot to carry.
Help me not to be overwhelmed by what is meant to be a gift.
Teach me how to steward my time, my energy, and my relationships with wisdom.
Keep my heart anchored in You, not in my responsibilities.
Remind me that I do not have to carry everything on my own.
You are my source, my strength, and my center.
Help me seek You first, even when life is full.
Let my work honor You.
Let my relationships reflect You.
Let my life stay aligned with You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Encouragement:
You are not drowning in responsibility. You are being trusted with more. Do not drop God while trying to carry everything else. Hold onto Him first and everything else will be carried differently. You prayed for this season.
Now walk through it with the One who gave it to you. Stay grounded. Stay faithful. Stay centered.
